It wasn't quite a full endorsement, but it sure
sounds like Paul approved. Now I usually discount any meaning
to Duke's announcements about who HE supports in any race, because
a candidate cannot be held responsible for any idiot's decision to
back him. That's why I ignored it when
Duke announced he would vote for Ron Paul: It doesn't mean Paul
supports Duke or that his views are Duke's, etcetera.
But as you can see from the first link, Duke was just returning
the favor, or the near-favor, from Paul from 1990. When somebody
pointed out this old Paul newsletter to me, I couldn't believe my
eyes. But it's real. follow the links. Granted, carefully parsed,
Paul is more defending the Duke voters in LA from the charge of
racism than he is celebrating Duke's performance. But it's almost
impossible to read Paul's newsletter, complete with exclamation
points, without concluding that Paul thought Duke's strong vote
count in the 1990 Senate race was a good thing. And there is nary a
word actually condemning Duke's racist and anti-Semitic views, nor
his by-then-established continuing ties with neo Nazis.
