Hagel Brings The Stupid

A long-time Capitol Hill Democrat astounded by the hearing tells Jennifer Rosen of the Washington Post:

“It is very clear from the testimony that Sen. Hagel will not be bringing the potato salad to the next Mensa picnic.”

…of course, the astounded, “long-time Capitol Hill Democrat” could be Hank “Guam Might Tip Over And Capsize” Johnson  and I’m pretty sure that he won’t even be bringing the red ants to the next Mensa picnic.

But, back to Hagel, who Obama wants to run our military.  First, you probably don't know this, but Chuck Hagel was NOT, contrary to the Palace Media Guard's meme, Obama's first choice to be  SecDef.  Allidunce was.  Of course, even Obama realised that he couldn't levy that kind of idiocy on the United States.  Second, if you have any doubts that Hagel was an EPIC FAIL, then allow this sampling of tweets from right and left to put them away:

Brit Hume ✔ @brithume

"It’s probably dawning on Sens. who didn’t serve w/Hagel that he’s just not very bright.  Exchange w/McCain unresponsive & bumbling."

Jim Jennings @jjenningswilmet

"@brithume Obama doesn't need brains, he needs obedience and he has it in Hagel."

Jonathan S. Tobin @TobinCommentary

"So far GOP hasn't been very effective against #Hagel.  But his answers have been even worse. Bumbling & incoherent."

Eric @eriContrarian

"I don't think Chuck Hagel hates Jews, I just think he's a bumbling idiot that isn't qualified for this job."

Nathan Wurtzel @NathanWurtzel

"I don't want any Israel hater as SoD, but a bigger problem is Hagel simply isn't up to this job, period."

Philip Klein @philipaklein

"Policy disagreements aside, Hagel just isn't coming across as somebody who would be a competent Secretary of Defense."

Ben Domenech @bdomenech

"As I said from the beginning, the problem with Hagel isn't Israel - it's that he's not very bright, and he's a dick about it."

Dennis Polyblank @dpoly1

"@brithume Hagel would fit in nicely with the rest of the #BumblingIdiotRegime#TGDN"

Charles C. W. Cooke @charlescwcooke

"I haven't said a single world about Hagel since this whole thing started, but my overriding impression today is that he's not that bright."

Tony Phyrillas @TonyPhyrillas

"@brithume "Just not very bright" could describe almost anyone in the Obama administration."

Totally Cruzed

"I'm less curious whether Hagel is qualified to be SecDef than I am if he's qualified to be Asst. Manger at the Scottsdale Mall Foot Locker—"

InnocuousPicGuy69 (@AceofSpadesHQ) January 31, 2013

"Only thing left is for Ted Cruz is to hold up Hagel's severed head.—"

    — Ed Husain (@Ed_Husain) January 31, 2013

Hey, idiots, ya know, maybe when we oppose someone, you should consider that we have good, principled reasons for doing so instead of screaming "YOU JUST OPPOSE HIM BECAUSE PRESIDENT OBAMA NOMINATED HIM AND THERE'S A BLACK MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE!  YOU BITTER, BITTER CLINGER!!!"

Hagel, hold the lox and cream cheese, it's what the Iranians want for breakfast!
