Wiz of Oz: "Hey, Don't Look At Me! It's Those Damn American Tea-Bagger's Fault!"

M2RB:  Bohemian Rhapsody from "Wayne's World"

I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me.
He's just a poor boy from a poor family,
Spare him his life from this monstrosity.

He may only be "Acting" Prime Minister and Treasurer, but I'm nominating Mr Swan for an Obama for his extraordinary performance in "Wayne's World of Blame" (h/t Catallaxy Files):

It’s not that he says it, but that he believes it that makes this so pathetic:

WAYNE Swan has blamed the conservative Tea Party movement in the US for damaging the global economy and contributing to the “whack” to Australia’s budget position that has ruined Labor’s planned 2012-13 surplus.

The Acting Prime Minister and Treasurer used Twitter yesterday to warn that the looming fiscal cliff in the US, coupled with the European debt crisis, had directly affected Australia by reducing tax receipts, thus undermining next year’s budget surplus.

But Mr Swan saved his key criticism for the Tea Party, accusing it of holding the world to ransom and setting back the post-global financial crisis recovery for the past 18 months.

‘The impact of America’s fiscal cliff saga combined with Europe’s deep problems is having a real impact on the entire global economy,’ he tweeted.

‘Of course, we’re seeing that impact first hand in Australia with the huge whack we’ve copped to our revenue base.

‘The fact is, no matter what happens this week, huge damage has been done over the last 18 months thanks to the Tea Party’s influence. It is lamentable that so much of the world’s post-GFC economic recovery has been held hostage in such a reckless way by the Tea Party.’

Automatic cuts to social security and defence accompanied by scheduled tax increases are threatening to plunge the US back into recession, with President Barack Obama cutting short his Hawaii holiday to return to Washington yesterday to try to hammer out a solution to stop America sliding over the fiscal cliff.

Personal responsibility for any of this is zero. Why he wants a surplus here but thinks the US can go on forever with its insane deficits he does not explain.

The New York Times, MSNBC, and the rest of the professional punditry in America can continue to yack that the Tea Party is soooooo 2010, but when it is still powerful and relevant enough that the Prime Minister of Oz uses it as a scapegoat, then, as Mark Twain famously quipped, "the reports of (its) death have been greatly exaggerated."

I also wonder if Mr Swan is aware of the study entitled "Financing U.S. Debt: Is There Enough Money in the World—and At What Cost?" published in 2010?    According to John Kitchen of the U.S. Treasury and Menzie Chinn of the University of Wisconsin, by 2020, every penny of revenue received by the U.S. Treasury will be consumed by Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and debt service, which confirms what has been forecasted by the Congressional Budget Office, the Office of Management and Budget, and the non-partisan the Peterson-Pew Commission on Budget ReformMore frightening, the duo's research found that it would take 19% of the rest of the world's GDP to finance the Federal government of the United States should it continue on its present trajectory.  NINETEEN PERCENT OF EVERY DOLLAR EARNED BY EVERY OTHER CITIZEN OF THE WORLD!!!    For the momentary relief of the residents of "My Progressive Little Ponyland," Kitchen and Chinn did say that getting the rest of the world to spend 19% of its GDP buying United States debt was "do-able," BUT JUST LIKE "MY PROGRESSIVE LITTLE PONYLAND" IS NEVER GOING TO BECOME REALITY, THE WORLD SO TOTALLY ISN'T EVER GONNA BUY 19% OF OUR WORTHLESS PAPER EVERY YEAR FOR INFINITY.  NEVER.

Is Mr Swan prepared to belly up to the bar and finance America's "My Progressive Little Ponyland" or will the scales of his Tea Party Derangement Syndrome fall from his eyes and allow him to see that the US can't possibly prop up the world's economy any longer BECAUSE IT IS BROKE AND BORROWING 46 CENTS OF EVERY DOLLAR THAT IT SPENDS?

Sorry, Wayne, but I'm not willing to throw my future on the barbie by going further and further into debt so that you can run around blaming others for your failure to have a surplus.

So, as Garth said to Wayne, "Turn it off, man, turn it off! It's sucking my will to live! Oh, the humanity!"

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide,
No escape from reality.
Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy,
Because I'm easy come, easy go,
Little high, little low,
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me.

Mama, just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead.
Mama, life had just begun,
But now I've gone and thrown it all away.
Mama, ooh,
Didn't mean to make you cry,
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow,
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters.

Too late, my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine,
Body's aching all the time.
Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go,
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth.
Mama, ooh (any way the wind blows),
I don't wanna die,
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all.

I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning,
Very, very frightening me.
(Galileo) Galileo.
(Galileo) Galileo,
Galileo Figaro
Magnifico.

I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me.
He's just a poor boy from a poor family,
Spare him his life from this monstrosity.

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go.
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go.
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go.
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go.
(Let me go) Will not let you go.
(Let me go) Will not let you go.
(Let me go) Ah.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
(Oh, mama mia, mama mia) Mama mia, let me go.
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me.

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye.
So you think you can love me and leave me to die.
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby,
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here.

Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters,
Nothing really matters to me.

Any way the wind blows.
