It's kind of ironic. More Democrats than Republicans voted for TARP. The TEA Party's first stirrings can be traced back to George W. Bush's bailouts and TARP. It was and remains vociferously opposed to TARP. It was and is against all bailouts and Crony Capitalism. In fact, the FIRST victims of the TEA Party were not Democrats. They were Republicans that voted for TARP and other Bush Big Government programmes.
Recently, liberal politicians like Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and even the New York Times praised ... wait for it ... Sarah Palin for a speech she gave denouncing Crony Capitalism. Where have they been? Perhaps, if they hadn't been calling all of those Americans Nazis and racists, they would have learned that the TEA Party has always been against BOTH BUSINESS, AS USUAL, IN WASHINGTON AND ON WALL STREET. BOTH must be reformed or nothing will change.
No, you are not and the 53% have a message for you, "You do not represent them."
It's truly too bad.
Had the Left stopped for a second the ridicule of the TEA Party and joined it, we would be two years into meaningful progress. Instead, it injected poisonous invective into the American discourse and is now at risk of being represented in front of the Middle Class by the worst possible representatives imaginable. I'm sorry. These kids may be nice and they may make a wonderful mark on history....in the future....but, right now, they are just a bunch of dirty, unkempt, foul-mouthed, gauche stoners, whose sense of reality (global debt forgiveness) lies in the land of unicorns.
Spring -> Forward ................ Fall -> Back
Oh, by the way, puhlease stop with the "American Fall" or "American Autumn" crap. The "Arab Spring" is one thing.
While I agree that "Autumn" perfectly describes "Progressivism" or "Liberalism" or "What-are-we-going-to-call-it-now-that-we-have-made-Progressivism-and-Liberalism-toxic?", it makes all Americans look stupid when you idiots pop up on international television with your "Autumn Power" fist salutes. So, stop it.
