If you are going to allow them, it’s important to me to know how you plan to moderate trolls these trolls when they start acting up, which will invariably happen. Like, will you make a separate thread they won’t be allowed to go into?

Howdee all! theotherone checking in. I might peep in from time to time. I'm too garrulous for my own good to post many comments. Also, I'm on the Left Coast, so I may come in too late to join the fun. But, I'll check back periodically to see what's shakin'.
Random thoughts... I grew up in a family of seven boys and one girl, and I am second youngest. When we were kids our mom always let us choose what we anted for supper on our birthdays, so I LOLZ, always asked for liver and onions, beets and spinach. Everyone else were always so pizzed at me since I was the only one who liked any of that... Ma' finally wised up and started making hamburger steaks and fried taters for the other kids...
I know that so many of the bad trolls really can screw things up and post stupid stuff, I think the best thing to do is when replying, don't acknowledge them by quoting their comment, just say somthing about what they posted, or, best of all, just don't reply! I have observed what Bmore does, and it is effective.

Yes, the Gulch was shut down. People seem to think that someone complained about Kool's language and when a moderator investigated, they found the Gulch and shut it down in addition to banning Kool. They also do blame a specific commenter for showing up uninvited and provoking Kool - even if that commenter didn't specifically email a complaint.
This seems to have initiated a boycott. The QOTD was incredibly quiet last night. Someone had suggested taking the conversation to a random headline thread. The specific one nominated last night was about robotics - so this strategy became known as the robot strategy. Personally, if they do this, then they should pick a headline thread that's already off the main page so that they don't attract troll attention.

Kiddo, how in the world can you appreciate comments that are totally void of substance and only criticize others? You’re better than that and at least you don’t bother to comment on things that don’t interest you instead of being annoyed at those who do.
