Sheriff: Try To Take Guns And You Will See A Revolution, Which Will Make The First Revolution Pale By Comparison

That's what you get for pretending the danger's not real.
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel.
What a surprise!
A look of terminal shock in your eyes.
Now things are really what they seem.
No, this is not a bad dream.

“First of all, to me that would be an act of tyranny. So the people in Milwaukee County do not have to worry about me enforcing some sort of order that goes out and collects everybody’s handgun, or rifles, or any kind of firearm and makes them turn them in. The reason is I don’t want to get shot, because I believe that if somebody tried to enforce something of that magnitude, you would see the second coming of an American Revolution, the likes of which would make the first revolution pale by comparison."

- Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, who recently urged the citizens he serves to consider learning firearm safety because of “a duty to protect yourself and your family” and lost a brother to gun-related homicide

Oh, and for the race-baiters that claim that gun ownership is some sort of “white man’s war against minorities,” Sheriff David Clarke is an African-American and a Democrat.

"I'm Sheriff David Clarke, and I want to talk to you about something personal: your safety.  With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back. ... Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family.  I need you in the game.

  - Sheriff David Clarke, Public Service Announcement

“There are certain situations — and I think most people get that — where 911 is going to be of no use. For instance, once the wolf is at the door, once the intruder is inside your home, once you’re on the street and someone sticks a gun in your face to take your car or your wallet, you don’t have the option of calling 911.  In those situations, there are certain things you can do to protect yourself. It’s a public safety message, and I’m just here to let the people know, give them the information as to what’s going on, and to give them options, if you will, as to how to defend themselves in those situations.”

- Sheriff David Clarke, CNN’s “Starting Point,” 27 January 2013

“I'm not telling you to `Hey, pick up a gun and blast away.' ... People need to know what they are doing if they chose that method -- to defend themselves.  People are responsible to play a role in their own safety, with the help of law enforcement.  I'm here to do my part, but we have fewer and fewer resources. We're not omnipresent, and we have to stop giving people that impression."

- Sheriff David Clarke, Associated Press, January 2013
