Pravda to Americans: Never Give Up Your Guns

M2RB:  Warren Zevon

Well, I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the Russians, too

Now I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man
Send lawyers, guns and money
The shit has hit the fan

Send lawyers, guns and money...

At one point, Russia was one of the most heavily-armed societies on earth.

These days, there are few few things to admire about the socialist, bankrupt and culturally degenerating USA, but at least so far, one thing remains: the right to bear arms and use deadly force to defend one's self and possessions.

This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the most heavily-armed societies on earth. This was, of course, when we were free under the Tsar. Weapons, from swords and spears to pistols, rifles and shotguns, were everywhere, common items. People carried them concealed, they carried them holstered. Fighting knives were a prominent part of many traditional attires and those little tubes criss-crossing on the costumes of Cossacks and various Caucasian peoples? Well, those are bullet holders for rifles.

Various armies, such as the Poles, during the Смута (Times of Troubles),  Napoleon, or the Germans even as the Tsarist state collapsed under the weight of WW1 and Wall Street monies found that holding Russian lands was much, much harder than taking them and taking was no easy walk in the park, but a bloodbath all its own. In holding, one faced an extremely well-armed and aggressive population Hell-bent on exterminating or driving out the aggressor.

This well-armed population was what allowed the various White factions to rise up, no matter how disorganized politically and militarily they were in 1918, and wage a savage civil war against the Reds. It should be noted that many of these armies were armed peasants, villagers, farmers and merchants, protecting their own. If it had not been for Washington's clandestine support of and for the Reds, history would have gone quite differently.

Moscow fell, for example, not from a lack of weapons to defend it, but from the lying guile of the Reds. Ten thousand Reds took Moscow and were opposed only by some few hundred officer cadets and their instructors. Even then, the battle was fierce and losses high. However, in the city alone, at that time, lived over 30,000 military officers (both active and retired) - all with their own issued weapons and ammunition, plus tens of thousands of other citizens, who were armed. The Soviets promised to leave them all alone if they did not intervene.  They did not and for that were asked afterwards to come register themselves and their weapons: where they were promptly shot.

Of course, being savages, murderers, and liars does not mean being stupid and the Reds learned from their Civil War experience. One of the first things they did was to disarm the population. From that point, mass repression, mass arrests, mass deportations, mass murder, and mass starvation were all a safe game for the powers that were. The worst they had to fear was a pitchfork in the guts, a knife in the back or the occasional hunting rifle. Not much for soldiers.

To this day, with the Soviet Union now dead 21 years, with a whole generation born and raised to adulthood without the SU, we are still denied our basic and traditional rights to self-defense. Why? We are told that everyone would just start shooting each other and crime would be everywhere....but criminals are still armed and still murdering and to0 often, especially in the far regions, those criminals wear the uniforms of the police. The fact that everyone would start shooting is also laughable when statistics are examined.

While President Putin pushes through reforms, the local authorities, especially in our vast hinterland, do not feel they need to act like they work for the people. They do as they please - a tyrannical class, who knows they have absolutely nothing to fear from a relatively unarmed population. This in turn breeds not respect, but absolute contempt and often enough, criminal abuse.

For those of us fighting for our traditional rights, the US 2nd Amendment is a rare light in an ever darkening room. Governments will use the excuse of trying to protect the people from maniacs and crime, but in reality, it is the bureaucrats protecting their power and position. In all cases where guns are banned, gun crime continues and often increases. As for maniacs, be it nuts with cars (NYC, Chapel Hill NC), swords (Japan), knives (China) or home-made bombs (everywhere), insane people strike. They throw acid (Pakistan, UK).  They throw fire bombs (France).  They attack.  What is worse is that the best way to stop a maniac is not psychology, jail or "talking to them."  It is a bullet in the head.  That is why they are maniacs.  They are incapable of living in reality or stopping themselves.

The excuse that people will start shooting each other is also plainly silly.  So, are our politicians saying that our society is full of incapable adolescents, who can never be trusted?  If so, then, please explain how we can trust them or the police, when they themselves grew up and came from the same culture?

No, it is about power - a total power over the people. There is a lot of desire to bad mouth the Tsar, particularly by the Communists, who claim he was a tyrant, and yet under him we were armed and under the progressives disarmed. Do not be fooled by a belief that progressives hate guns. Oh, no, they do not. What they hate is guns in the hands of those, who are not marching in lock step of their ideology. They hate guns in the hands of those, who think for themselves and do not obey without question. They hate guns in the hands of those whom they have slated for a barrel to the back of the ear.

So, do not fall for the false promises and do not extinguish the light that is left to allow humanity a measure of self respect.

Lawyers, Guns And Money by Warren Zevon

Well, I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the Russians, too

I was gambling in Havana
I took a little risk
Send lawyers, guns and money
Dad, get me out of this

I'm the innocent bystander
Somehow I got stuck
Between the rock and the hard place
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck

Now I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man
Send lawyers, guns and money
The shit has hit the fan

Send lawyers, guns and money...

Two Views of Gun Control…

… or, do as I say, not as I do, Hollywood division:

Okay, it’s easy to say that they’re just actors. Jamie Foxx is not really killing all those white people in Tarantino’s Django Unchained via the magic of movie-making, he’s just pretending to kill them. And Jennifer Garner isn’t really shooting those Arabs in The Kingdom, she’s just playing a role. And Jeremy Renner — a splendid action hero, even if the last Bourne installment was a plotless dud — would never in a million years think of gunning down Boston cops while robbing Fenway Park (as he did in The Town), unless his pal Ben Affleck (on his way to becoming a great director) asked him to for his art.

And good for them for doing so.

But with President Obama promising to put “gun control” in the legislative crosshairs in 2013, it’s instructive to watch various actors both miming heroism and then denouncing the very tools with which they perform those heroic acts. For years, Hollywood has been forced to assert that films have no influence on the larger culture — unless, of course, it’s advancing various pet lefty causes under the “tolerance” rubric — and that therefore they cannot “inspire” various psychotic punks to acts of horrific violence.

And I agree. As John Milton writes in the Areopagitica:

TO THE PURE, ALL THINGS ARE PURE; not only meats and drinks, but all kind of knowledge whether of good or evil; the knowledge cannot defile, nor consequently the books, if the will and conscience be not defiled. For books are as meats and viands are; some of good, some of evil substance; and yet God, in that unapocryphal vision, said without exception, RISE, PETER, KILL AND EAT, leaving the choice to each man’s discretion. Wholesome meats to a vitiated stomach differ little or nothing from unwholesome; and best books to a naughty mind are not unappliable to occasions of evil. Bad meats will scarce breed good nourishment in the healthiest concoction; but herein the difference is of bad books, that they to a discreet and judicious reader serve in many respects to discover, to confute, to forewarn, and to illustrate…

Good and evil we know in the field of this world grow up together almost inseparably; and the knowledge of good is so involved and interwoven with the knowledge of evil, and in so many cunning resemblances hardly to be discerned, that those confused seeds which were imposed upon Psyche as an incessant labour to cull out, and sort asunder, were not more intermixed. It was from out the rind of one apple tasted, that the knowledge of good and evil, as two twins cleaving together, leaped forth into the world. And perhaps this is that doom which Adam fell into of knowing good and evil, that is to say of knowing good by evil.

In other words, to a soul predisposed to evil, everything can be an occasion of sin. To the feeble-minded losers who fancy themselves Keanu Reeves in The Matrix, everything looks like a black trench coat:

 You talkin’ to me?

Fantasy plays a powerful role in the lives of these arrested-development teens, in whom adolescent angst and a complete ignorance of real-world consequences collide with a lack of proper parenting and, often, psychotropic drugs that inhibit normal male development — to lethal affect. The uptick in school shootings is probably less attributable to the “easy availability” of guns — Connecticut has gun laws that are among the toughest in the nation —  than to the relentless campaign to turn young men into young women, and the inevitable, Paglia-predicted blowback whenever society’s urge to countermand reality runs smack into Mother Nature.

Which, when you stop to think about it, is the Left’s great Achilles heel: their words can never match their deeds, because the gulf between what they would like to believe and what they actually do is too great. Here in L.A., those most vociferously against firearms tend to be the same folks with the “Armed Response” signs in front of their houses. Those who praise public charity as a “moral” duty indulge in very little private charity themselves. And those who habitually denounce “racism” live in what is probably the most racially segregated big city in the country; the average upper-middle-class white Angeleno can go weeks or even months without ever seeing or interacting with a black person, unless it’s in the workplace.

Normally, one could posit that either the actors in the video above believe in the truth of their roles, or in the truth of their public-service announcement scripts. But Hollywood is not normal, and so there’s a very real third possibility: that they believe in both.

Wiz of Oz: "Hey, Don't Look At Me! It's Those Damn American Tea-Bagger's Fault!"

M2RB:  Bohemian Rhapsody from "Wayne's World"

I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me.
He's just a poor boy from a poor family,
Spare him his life from this monstrosity.

He may only be "Acting" Prime Minister and Treasurer, but I'm nominating Mr Swan for an Obama for his extraordinary performance in "Wayne's World of Blame" (h/t Catallaxy Files):

It’s not that he says it, but that he believes it that makes this so pathetic:

WAYNE Swan has blamed the conservative Tea Party movement in the US for damaging the global economy and contributing to the “whack” to Australia’s budget position that has ruined Labor’s planned 2012-13 surplus.

The Acting Prime Minister and Treasurer used Twitter yesterday to warn that the looming fiscal cliff in the US, coupled with the European debt crisis, had directly affected Australia by reducing tax receipts, thus undermining next year’s budget surplus.

But Mr Swan saved his key criticism for the Tea Party, accusing it of holding the world to ransom and setting back the post-global financial crisis recovery for the past 18 months.

‘The impact of America’s fiscal cliff saga combined with Europe’s deep problems is having a real impact on the entire global economy,’ he tweeted.

‘Of course, we’re seeing that impact first hand in Australia with the huge whack we’ve copped to our revenue base.

‘The fact is, no matter what happens this week, huge damage has been done over the last 18 months thanks to the Tea Party’s influence. It is lamentable that so much of the world’s post-GFC economic recovery has been held hostage in such a reckless way by the Tea Party.’

Automatic cuts to social security and defence accompanied by scheduled tax increases are threatening to plunge the US back into recession, with President Barack Obama cutting short his Hawaii holiday to return to Washington yesterday to try to hammer out a solution to stop America sliding over the fiscal cliff.

Personal responsibility for any of this is zero. Why he wants a surplus here but thinks the US can go on forever with its insane deficits he does not explain.

The New York Times, MSNBC, and the rest of the professional punditry in America can continue to yack that the Tea Party is soooooo 2010, but when it is still powerful and relevant enough that the Prime Minister of Oz uses it as a scapegoat, then, as Mark Twain famously quipped, "the reports of (its) death have been greatly exaggerated."

I also wonder if Mr Swan is aware of the study entitled "Financing U.S. Debt: Is There Enough Money in the World—and At What Cost?" published in 2010?    According to John Kitchen of the U.S. Treasury and Menzie Chinn of the University of Wisconsin, by 2020, every penny of revenue received by the U.S. Treasury will be consumed by Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and debt service, which confirms what has been forecasted by the Congressional Budget Office, the Office of Management and Budget, and the non-partisan the Peterson-Pew Commission on Budget ReformMore frightening, the duo's research found that it would take 19% of the rest of the world's GDP to finance the Federal government of the United States should it continue on its present trajectory.  NINETEEN PERCENT OF EVERY DOLLAR EARNED BY EVERY OTHER CITIZEN OF THE WORLD!!!    For the momentary relief of the residents of "My Progressive Little Ponyland," Kitchen and Chinn did say that getting the rest of the world to spend 19% of its GDP buying United States debt was "do-able," BUT JUST LIKE "MY PROGRESSIVE LITTLE PONYLAND" IS NEVER GOING TO BECOME REALITY, THE WORLD SO TOTALLY ISN'T EVER GONNA BUY 19% OF OUR WORTHLESS PAPER EVERY YEAR FOR INFINITY.  NEVER.

Is Mr Swan prepared to belly up to the bar and finance America's "My Progressive Little Ponyland" or will the scales of his Tea Party Derangement Syndrome fall from his eyes and allow him to see that the US can't possibly prop up the world's economy any longer BECAUSE IT IS BROKE AND BORROWING 46 CENTS OF EVERY DOLLAR THAT IT SPENDS?

Sorry, Wayne, but I'm not willing to throw my future on the barbie by going further and further into debt so that you can run around blaming others for your failure to have a surplus.

So, as Garth said to Wayne, "Turn it off, man, turn it off! It's sucking my will to live! Oh, the humanity!"

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide,
No escape from reality.
Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy,
Because I'm easy come, easy go,
Little high, little low,
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me.

Mama, just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead.
Mama, life had just begun,
But now I've gone and thrown it all away.
Mama, ooh,
Didn't mean to make you cry,
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow,
Carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters.

Too late, my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine,
Body's aching all the time.
Goodbye, everybody, I've got to go,
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth.
Mama, ooh (any way the wind blows),
I don't wanna die,
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all.

I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning,
Very, very frightening me.
(Galileo) Galileo.
(Galileo) Galileo,
Galileo Figaro
Magnifico.

I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me.
He's just a poor boy from a poor family,
Spare him his life from this monstrosity.

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go.
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go.
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go.
(Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go.
(Let me go) Will not let you go.
(Let me go) Will not let you go.
(Let me go) Ah.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
(Oh, mama mia, mama mia) Mama mia, let me go.
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me.

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye.
So you think you can love me and leave me to die.
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby,
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here.

Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters,
Nothing really matters to me.

Any way the wind blows.
